Transgender Tara Hudson moved from Men's prison to women's prison



Tara Hudson, 26, from Bath, was ordered by magistrates to 12 weeks sentence in HMP Men Bristol for assaulting a bar manager despite having lived as a woman her whole adult life, now has been moved to women's facility after a campaign to get her transferred. Hudson was born a man but has lived her adult life as a woman and was sent to an all-male prison after admitting an assault.


The make-up artist, who was previously known as Raymond Aaron David, has undergone six years of reconstructive surgery, but she is still legally considered a man.

Tara Hudson, 26, after admitted headbutting a bar manager during a pub fight that took place on Boxing Day, A judge dismissed her appeal against her sentence, but asked for consideration to be made about where she serves her it. Hudson has now been moved to a women's jail.


After complained she was being harassed by other inmates at the all-male prison. That triggered more than 140,000 people to sign a petition calling for her to be moved from men's prison . 
Hudson has told her mother that she is "a lot more comfortable" having been moved to a women's prison. 



She is now believed to have been moved to Eastwood Park Prison in Gloucester, a jail that holds around 360 women.

Ben Howlett, MP for Bath and a member of the Women and Equalities Select Committee, said: "This afternoon we have heard from a source that Tara has been taken from court to an all-female prison.

A Prison Service spokesman said: "It is longstanding policy to place offenders according to their legally recognised gender.
