After spending £70,000 on surgery and designer outfits, Thalia Almodovar is a dead ringer for the US reality TV star with the world's most famous booty. With her hourglass figure and sultry gaze, curvy Thalia Almodovar could be Kim Kardashian West's double. But, amazingly, the 30-year-old was actually born male. Over the years, Thalia has splurged more than £70,000 on style and surgery and is mobbed by fans when she hits the streets of New York City.

After gender reassignment surgery, she had a bum lift, breast and calf implants, lip fillers and Botox, before spending more than £20,000 on outfits to emulate her famous lookalike.

"I think Kim K is absolutely stunning," Thalia says. "I love the shape of her body. She is beautiful and I admire what she has accomplished."

Thalia always knew she was a woman, and started taking female hormones while still in high school in New York.

"It was hard, because I didn't have anyone to guide me," she remembers. "I got them from a girl who worked in a pharmacy and hid that I was taking them from my parents."

As her body changed, Thalia covered her figure in baggy shirts so her family wouldn't notice.

At 23, she finally sought professional help from a gender clinic.

"I saw a psychiatrist and they diagnosed me with gender dysphoria," she says. "I decided to have gender reassignment surgery, so I had to tell my family. When I did, my father was very supportive, but my mum found it extremely hard. From an early age, I'd said I wanted to be a woman, but she just couldn't support me. It was hard knowing my mum would never accept me, or be proud of me."

The comparisons to the reality TV star began following a boob job and bum lift surgery in 2009, "I went into a boutique in New York and the owner thought I was Kim Kardashian. I laughed and said I wasn't Kim. It felt a little awkward, but I took it as a compliment."

As a make-up artist, Thalia was always a fan of smoky eyes, harsh highlights and contours. But her obsession with Kim didn't begin until months after her surgery, when she started watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

"My hair was dyed strawberry-blonde at the time, and I was thinking about going back to my natural black," she says. "As soon as I did, people started staring at me when I was walking along the street. People were nicer to me in stores and I had no idea why. Then, one of my friends said, 'You look like Kim Kardashian.' I couldn't see it at first, but then I embraced it. I got preferential treatment in clubs and restaurants, and people would mob me for selfies. It was incredible! A lot of women love Kim because of the way she looks, and men love her curves, so I've never had a mean reaction."

After a while, Thalia began copying Kim's style by finding cheaper alternatives to her expensive wardrobe.

"Every time she was on TV, I would immediately find out who designed her dress. I have an app on my phone that allows me to find replica pieces. While my outfits don't cost anything like hers, they're still very expensive."

She has found an affordable version of the red Valentino dress that Kim wore in London in September 2012, and the pink PVC crop top and skirt she wore in Melbourne in November 2014 for £460.

In total, she has spent around £10,000 on clothes and £10,000 on shoes – not to mention £50,000 on surgery.

"I've been lucky with my figure, as I'm genetically prone towards being slim. I don't need to watch what I eat and I don't go to the gym – it's all natural, apart from the surgery."

Splashing out nearly £800, Thalia also had the "vampire facelift" – where your own blood is injected into your face – made famous by the Kardashian star.

But it's not just Kim's looks that hit home with Thalia. She also wants to embrace her powerful personality.

"Everything about Kim's attitude really resonates with me. People think she doesn't deserve to be where she is, but she doesn't care. She just carries on building her empire. That's what I want to do. Some people don't like that I'm transgender and successful but, just like Kim, I don't care. I love my life! A lot of people have asked if I want to be a professional lookalike. I don't want to live in the shadow of someone else, but it could be a fun experience."

While her relationship with her mum is still very strained, the bond she shares with her father has gone from strength to strength.
"I'm not heartbroken over losing touch with my mum – I had to be strong and live my life. My dad is open-minded and says I'm beautiful. But, just like any other dad, he doesn't approve of my revealing outfits and doesn't like it when guys look at me."
But sharing a likeness with one of the world's most recognisable women can have its downsides, "I had this guy who only dated me because he had an obsession with Kim – it was a fantasy. I'm single now, and I won't settle for anything less than my own Kanye!"
