The travelling Gunners arriving at White Hart Lane were greeted by crowds of Spurs fans shouting "f*** off back to Woolwich, north London is ours," while police, on foot and horseback, attempted to keep the peace.

Eventually herded into the ground, Arsenal fans watched their side win 2-1 and reach the Capital One Cup last 16 thanks to a Mathieu Flamini brace.

But if fans thought their evening was finished after the final whistle, they were mistaken.  As the away end waited for their opportunity to leave the ground, fans began tearing up hoardings bearing the words "this is my club, my one and only club," which led to few scuffles with police and stewards in the stands.

And half an hour after the final whistle, the Arsenal faithful found themselves still stuck in the corridors of the ground, waiting to be let out.

Fans amused themselves with chants of: "I wanna go home, I wanna go home, Tottenham's a s***hole, I wanna go home." When they finally did make it outside the ground, Arsenal fans were then under the protection of the police, who attempted to escort them away from the area.

For those fans who didn't want to wait hours to reach home, the only choice was to duck under the police line on Tottenham High Road and blend in with the swathes of home supporters.

Police confirmed a total of 10 people were arrested in the aftermath of the defeat, while footage of what appeared to be Spurs fans fighting with police also emerged after the game.
