Breaking News: Billionaire, Deinde Fernandez is dead

Nigeria’s Billionaire, Oluwo Antonio Deinde Fernandez is dead, aged 79 years.  Announcing his demise in a tweet at about 9.pm on Tuesday.
“Nigeria, and indeed Africa, has just lost one of its greatest sons; Ambassador Chief Antonio Dehinde Fernandez is gone!” that statement was delivered on microblogging from Dele Momodu. may his soul rest in peace.


Chief Antonio Oladeinde Fernandez was born in Lagos in 1936 into the Fernandez family that originated from Brazil and the first European migrant to Lagos State. is a Nigerian Business magnate, Diplomat and Permanent Representative of Central African Republic to the United Nations.

A Nigerian Yoruba chief and prominent businessman who has been described as one of the richest men in Africa.

Alongside his business interests he had a diplomatic career stretching back to 1966, when he served as the consul of the Republic of Dahomey. In 1982 he became the economic adviser to the Angolan government and has worked with the UN for more than a decade, beginning with his appointment as the permanent representative of Mozambique in 1984. In 1992 he served as ambassador-at-large for Angola and for Togo.

His business links with Angola are also strong. In 1996 Petro Inett, which is registered in Paris, obtained a 50% share with South African-based Energy Africa Limited in a deal with the state oil company for exploration rights in a 4,700 sq km (1,800 sq mile) area of Angola's coast.

 He was formerly married to Aduke Fernandez, whom he divorced in July 2003 following a £ 300m divorce suit in Scotland filed on July 1, 2003 by her counsel, He later married Halima in 2003. 

Chief Fernandez was the father of Princess Antoinette Oyinkansola Fernandez, from his relationship with the current Erelu Kuti of Lagos. Chief Fernandez was also the father of Abimbola Fernandez, a Nigerian model for Vivienne Westwood during Edinburgh Fashion Week. In 2009 her face was the album cover for platinum selling artist Cobra Starship's CD "Hot Mess. 

He had his own Island. He also owned a mansion in Larchmont, NY, a house in Brussels, a palace in Nigeria and a French hunting château that once belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte. He owned three private jets and said to be worth about $10.2 billion.

He died today 1st of September , 2015 in Belgium. May almighty God grant him Eternal life.
