Chumán Don Luciano has a home and a family, but his schizophrenia means he spends a lot of time wandering the streets.
The 83-year-old living in Ferreñafe, Peru, was recognisable from the dirt and grime all over his body, and his tatty hair. So locals decided to club together and help him out. As well as a shower and haircut, he had a shave and was given some new clothes.
Municipality spokeswoman Yesenia Abad Cross told BuzzFeed Español. “These humanitarian gestures must continue," Yesenia said.“Sometimes we are a little indifferent, and forget that they are people like us and need our help.”The town have said they plan on keeping up the kind deeds.
