A woman has posted this footage on YouTube of the moment he pocketed her mate’s iPhone as they got out of a cab in Toronto, Canada.
Because they’d been drinking they said they didn’t notice the cabbie hide the phone out of view.
One of them then leans in to say good night and the taxi driver brazenly waves them off.
It was not until they watched the Snapchat footage later that the friends realised what had happened.
Writing on YouTube, the girl who posted the footage wrote:
On Saturday night I took a cab home with a friend. As she was exiting the cab I clicked onto my app ‘Snapchat’ and filmed her exit thinking it would be funny.
If you watch the beginning of the video you will quickly see him reach over and take her phone as she was getting out of the car. He doesn’t think twice and finally waves to the camera.
Police were called and he was charge with thief. I want people to realize that anything can happen even if the driver was a flirty talker.
The phone was turned off immediately once we noticed it was gone. If we didn’t have this video we wouldn’t have got the phone back.
This could have been wallet with money or an intoxication girl by themselves. Spread the word: Don’t trust your cab driver. Always double check the cab.
She says that the police were called and the light-fingered taxi driver was charged.
