Liverpool to hold talks with first-choice Jurgen Klopp despite Carlo Ancelotti contact

Liverpool are set to hold talks with preferred managerial candidate Jurgen Klopp before the end of the week, while they have also made contact with Carlo Ancelotti's representatives, the Reds are keen to appoint a successor to Brendan Rodgers, who was sacked on Sunday evening, as quickly as possible and want him installed before the next Premier League fixture at Tottenham after the international break.


Klopp, 47, is currently out of work and enjoying a sabbatical following his decision to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season, but he has previously divulged a desire to manage in England and put no timescale on his time away from the game.
Ancelotti is also out of work after being sacked by Real Madrid in May, despite winning the Champions League a year earlier, and is believed to be keen to return to work.

According to Sky Sports reporter Vinny O'Connor who has been investigating Liverpool's hunt for a new manager from Anfield, and he said: "Liverpool are hopeful of holding talks with Jurgen Klopp imminently, and certainly before the end of the week."One of the reasons these two managers are of interest is that they are both out of work at the moment, which makes a deal relatively easy to do."But with Klopp, he has a track record of working with younger players, improving them, but also losing his best players and still being able to produce a successful team.
"His record in the Bundesliga shows that and he also got Borussia Dortmund to the final of the Champions League, and if you look at the way Liverpool have operated in recent years you can see why he's their number one choice."In his time at Dortmund, having joined in May 2008, Klopp ended their nine-year wait for a Bundesliga title, winning the German top division in 2011 and in 2012, when they won a league and cup double.

He also took the club to their second Champions League final in 2013, where they were beaten 2-1 by German rivals Bayern Munich, but Klopp struggled in his final season in charge and the team ended up finishing seventh.
