Prince Jackson’s tweet refuels paternity rumours and Dr Arnold Klein will take the truth to his grave

Dr Arnold Klein, who stood accused of introducing Jacko to drugs, had long courted speculation that he was the biological father of Prince Jackson, 18, and sister Paris, 17. Their mother is Jackson’s second wife, Debbie Rowe.


Hours before 70-year-old Klein’s death in hospital on Thursday, Prince himself referred to the persistent paternity rumours on Twitter.

Replying to a tweet that he was not really a Jackson but a Klein-Rowe, Prince said: “‘The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.’ I was raised by my dad with my brother and sister.”

Dermatologist Klein introduced Jackson to Debbie, then a nurse at his Beverly Hills surgery. And in 2013, Klein put a picture of himself as a young man on Facebook next to a photo of Prince. The likeness was uncanny.

Diane Diamond, who wrote the book Be Careful Who You Love: Inside the Michael Jackson Case, said last night: “The big tragedy is poor Prince has potentially lost two fathers. “One he grew up with and the other he didn’t get to know.“I feel for Prince because he could have just lost his biological father. It’s a horrible situation, tragic.“There’s not one bit of this long saga that isn’t tragic. It’s like a Shakespearean drama.”

But Klein’s former office manager Jason Pfeiffer, 41, insists British actor Mark Lester, 57, was the sperm donor. Pfeiffer said: “Michael told me he considered Klein but didn’t go with him.”

Once one of America’s top showbiz skin doctors, Klein’s celebrity patients included Elizabeth Taylor, Dolly Parton and Dustin Hoffman.

He began treating the insecure King of Pop as a patient in 1983 and they became unlikely best friends. But Klein was blamed for the bizarre transformation in Jacko’s appearance and for fuelling the drug addiction that led to his 2009 death, aged 50, from a huge overdose of the powerful sedative propofol.

He was hit with a series of lawsuits before filing for bankruptcy in 2011. He lost his Hollywood mansion, a home in Laguna Beach and an art collection that included works by David Hockney and Andy Warhol. Klein spent his last, lonely years living in Palm Springs. He had multiple sclerosis and was confined to a wheelchair at the time of his death.

Jacko’s lawyer Brian Oxman, also close to Klein, said: “They each contributed to the other’s life and death in strange ways.“Michael adored Arnie, he felt Arnie was someone who really cared for him. I think Arnie loved Michael. “Klein protected Michael but was a contributing factor to his ultimate departure from the world. And Arnie’s been to hell and back since Michael passed.”
