Videos showed a woman in a white dress, surrounded by armed policemen. In the 52-second video clip, the woman is shown raising her hands as the policemen come closer, their guns aimed at her. At the 27-second mark, two men in black rush towards her. Four seconds later, at least six gunshots are heard as she falls to the ground.
The incident follows a week of spiralling violence between Palestinians and Israelis, which saw more clashes and demonstrations on Saturday and two more stabbings in Jerusalem, in which the Palestinian assailant was shot dead.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas have sought to avoid an escalation, but frustrated Palestinian youths have defied efforts to restore calm and a wave of stabbings has spread fear in Israel.
