Paris attacks: Man survives as mobile phone takes impact of bomb debris dash towards his head

A MAN is counting his blessings after his mobile phone saved his life when terrorists launched an attack outside the Stade de France in Paris on Friday night. The man, only known as Sylvestre, was speaking on the phone when a bomb exploded nearby. More photos after cut....

The explosion sent shrapnel flying towards him, but his life was spared after his phone took the brunt of the hit.

“I was crossing the street and straight away, boom, it exploded right in front of me,” he said, reports Reuters.“Everything was blown to bits and I felt stuff flying around, I fell and then I got back up.“This is the cell phone that took the hit, it’s what saved me. Otherwise my head would have been blown to bits.”

Unfortunately, others weren’t as lucky with officials confirming several deaths as a result of the two suicide bomb explosions outside the stadium.
French President Francois Hollande and the German foreign minister were in attendance for a friendly international football match, but both escaped without injury.
